Programs and Services

EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING AND ESL

Our bilingual, bicultural staff provide:

  • Case Management, assessment and development of employability plans, and follow up.
  • Job search assistance including resume assistance, referral to jobs, online job applications, interview techniques.
  • Referral to ESL classes, vocational skills training, work experience and subsidized employment opportunities.
  • Referral to other community resources.

RISNW supports local businesses

  • Employer tax incentives and subsidies for hiring workers who are low income and/or meet other criteria.
  • Cross cultural training for businesses to address cultural issues/barriers and effectively work with diverse employees and customers.

Employment Programs

WorkSource Partner: As a WorkSource Partner in Snohomish County, RISNW partners with Employment Security, Housing Hope and Goodwill to provide employment assistance to customers at Everett, Lynnwood, and Monroe WorkSource.

LEP Pathway: RISNW offers a continuum of case management, employment, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, job training and work experience services to limited English Speaking refugees and immigrants receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) and Basic Food (BFET) as well as newly arrived refugees in the US for less than 5 years.  We contract with Everett and Edmonds Community College to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) class.

Commerce Work First Programs: Through a subcontract with Service Alternatives, we offer case management, Community Jobs and other services to increase the employability of WorkFirst TANF recipients.

I-CATCH Program: We are a partner in Innovations in Creating Access to Careers in Health Care, federally funded grant.

Community Education and Social Services

We provide case management, information and referral to resources, such as energy assistance, phone services for low income, and low income housing.

We offer workshops on emergency preparedness, health and safety, crime prevention, tenants’ rights, and other topics.

Support to Parents and Schools

RISNW supports local school districts and families they serve.

  • Assist parents to navigate local school systems.  Provide multi-lingual phone line to report absences and concerns. Interpretation and translation services at meetings, parent teacher conferences and other events.
  • Tutoring assistance to ELL students.
  • Cross cultural training for schools to enhance their knowledge of the areas diverse refugee and immigrant communities and how to better support and address the school success for students and their families.
  • Information about new incoming refugee and immigrant ethnic/language groups.

Interpretation/ and Translation Services

  • Coordinate a pool of 117 interpreters and translators who speak more than 40 languages and dialects
  • Provide on-call interpretation and translation services for school districts,  Head Start and Snohomish County

Advocacy and Civic Engagement

  • Educate elected officials and policy makers on refugee needs and issues
  • Get Out To Vote (GOTV) outreach, organizing, community education,  and ballot parties to increase civic participation among  refugee and immigrant communities

Immigration and Naturalization Services

Naturalization Services

  • Classes to prepare eligible refugees and immigrants to become US citizens.
  • Assistance preparing and filing required paperwork and documents.

Access to Health Care

We support the health and wellbeing of our community through special projects to promote community education and awareness.  Our trained staff help individuals sign up for health coverage through the Health Care Authority.

Immigration services

  • Helping refugees to adjust their status to permanent resident, assisting with paperwork and various steps in the process, fee waivers, travel documents, lost or replacement document, family reunification, and other.
